Everything is Alive, Everything is Breathing, Nothing is Dead and Nothing is Bleeding
Quite a title eh?! And this is quite an album. Featuring former Norma Jean lead screamer/vocalist Josh Scogin, the press blurb proudly declares that this is "his hardcore debut" and I can't help but agree. Growling guitars are driven along by a tight rhythm section. The band write on the liner notes that they have ignored modern recording techniques, preferring instead to evoke the "spirit of hardcore" by recording their hard and fast songs live in the studio, and the lack of polish that this gives the record actually helps it, as dissonant passages are interwoven with awesome breakdowns. Song titles such as "Before There Was Atlanta, There Was Douglasville" give the indication that this isn't a record of three minute pop songs, and this is indeed hardcore in its purest sense. Should please any discerning metalhead.
