Genetic Wuz Album Review

Genetic Wuz
Thes Iz My Kung Fu
From the moment the "Parental Advisory - Excellent Content" sticker on the front is spied (that allied to the somewhat unusual band name and album title) this reviewer got the feeling he was in for an interesting ride. When you find out that the band recorded the album with the support of the European Union's Education and Culture Department, it all adds to a sense of intrigue. And so, with appetite duly whetted, on to the music. What we get here is an extremely well-crafted album, which lives up to the "hip-rock" genre the band place themselves in. One minute there's furious rapping over stadium-size guitar riffs on "Wannabe A Lookalike", which is a single if ever I've heard one, the next there's gorgeously chilled female vocals on "Reflecting" over spacey pads, and the funk of "Something Out Of Life". Genetic Wuz are one of those bands who seem to be able to turn their collective hand to any style they turn their mind to and actually pull it off, and with lyrics which studiously avoid Christianese, allied to heavyweight support, it seems the only way is up for this talented band.
